This important religious lesson can be used with both the Bible Sandy Candy and the Candy Pebbles.

Today, we are going to learn a story about two builders.  The two builders’ analogy was used by Jesus to conclude The Sermon on the Mount.

This story teaches that Jesus’ words are extremely powerful only when they are acted upon.

To illustrate this lesson, we will fill two tubes up with candy.

One builder decided to build his house upon sand.   To remind us of this builder, please fill up a tube with the candy which looks like sand.  You can fill it with one color, or can alternate with other colors.

Please put a cap on the tube when you get to the top.

The other built his house upon rock.  We will fill the other tube with the candy which looks like rock to portray this builder.  You may also pick one color, or alternate with different colors.

Please also put a cap on the tube when you get to the top.

Now with both tubes filled we have a visual to remind us of each builder.

The tube with the sand like candy reminds us of the foolish man who built his house upon the sand.  Since sand moves from place to place, it is not a good foundation for a house.

Thus, when a storm hits, the house will be destroyed.

Now the tube with the rock like candy reminds us of the wise man who built his house upon a rock. Rock can not be moved and is a permanent foundation.  It will protect the house in case of a storm.

Both the wise and the foolish man heard the words of Jesus.  The difference between the two builders is that the wise man heard and acted upon the words of Jesus.  The wise man who built his house upon the rock teaches us to build are lives on the words of Jesus Christ.
